What were the influences for Chained Echoes, especially from the SNES and PS1 era of JRPGs? But the idea for Chained Echoes was in my head for quite a long time until I finally decided to realize it. That’s why I started making fangames in first place. I always wanted to create something worth of the games of my childhood. I grew up in the golden times of RPGs on the SNES and PS1. How did the idea for Chained Echoes come about? What motivated you to make an RPG? Chained Echoes is my first game so I’d consider it my way into game development although I created fangames for Final Fantasy VI back in the days with the RPG Maker. I still don’t know how I managed to do all that on my own. Everything besides some artworks, the key art and the soundtrack. I do basically everything from game design to pixel art. I am the solo developer of Chained Echoes. Hi Matthias, please introduce yourself and how you got into game development? To learn more about this solo endeavour, IGN Southeast Asia reached out to Matthias Linda on his process in creating Chained Echoes. For the uninitiated, Chained Echoes presents a traditional JRPG experience, inspired by the classics on the SNES and the original PlayStation. After seven years of development, solo developer Matthias Linda is ready to show the world his magnum opus.
